Recollectr
[[ TODO: INCLUDE IMAGE ]]
My primary project, and the only one not provided completely for free - although most of it is!
Recollectr is a cross-platform note-taking and reminder app built to get out of your way. It's inspired by the great work of previous apps such as Notational Velocity and NoteSync.
It includes features like:
- A customizable global hotkey
- A search/create omnibox
- Emphasis on keyboard support
- Multi-format import/export
- WYSIWYG editor with markdown capabilities
- Natural language reminders
- A burgeoning mobile app
I mostly want this page to focus on my side projects, so I'll just share one snippet of what was written about Recollectr on the Canonical Blog:
Recollectr aims to be several things, including a task manager with scheduled reminders, note keeper as well as an archive of useful factoids and data, and it manages to blend all this functionality without feeling busy or complicated.
It's only gotten a lot better since that was written!
Flying-Z
[[ TODO: INCLUDE IMAGE ]]
Flying-Z is a one-click installer to add Cygwin-based Zsh to Windows Terminal. In addition to Cygwin/Zsh it also installs Oh-My-Zsh/Zoxide/GCM/NerdFonts.
It aims to be a fully featured and polished approach to a Linux-like terminal on Windows, featuring a global hotkey for the terminal, custom icons, and tweaked themes specialized for Windows, including niceties like displaying both the POSIX and Windows paths.
Though far less wide-ranging in its ambition, Flying-Z was inspired by Babun.

Meditations.mx
Meditations.mx is a digital transformation of my preferred version of The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius. I aimed to make the site about as lightweight as could be, preserving the original formatting of the text while providing a few enhancements like section collapsing; toggling fonts and line justification; and providing the option to easily copy or link to specific verses.
Relinker
[[ TODO: INCLUDE IMAGE ]]
Modifying links on mobile is a pain - whether to go to an archived version, to rewrite a subdomain, or some other commonly performed task - Relinker addresses this in a way that can work across all mobile devices - by receiving a shared URL and taking some predefined action with it.
The original intent of Relinker was to take the link, transform it, and send it back to the browser - but it was revised to include an internal browser (with reading mode) to help with problems the original approach caused VPN users. With an internal browser users can enable split-tunneling (if their VPN provider offers it) and exclude Relinker from their VPN. You can also opt to simply copy the transformed URL.
Relinker is also available as a browser extension, adding an option to Context Menu → Auto-relink and relinking the current page via the extension icon.

Fabri-Elated Bias Modification
[[ TODO: INCLUDE IMAGE ]]
It's an awkward name - short for Fabricated & Elated. I have a thing for rhymes, okay?
The name is a bit rough, but the app works like a charm.
Cognitive bias modification is a psychological training technique aimed at shifting attention patterns, often used to reduce anxiety or negative thinking. In the "grid of faces" approach, users are presented with a grid of mostly unhappy faces and must find the single happy one, reinforcing their focus on positive stimuli over negative ones. This repetitive task helps retrain the brain to prioritize positive cues in everyday life.
Fabri-Elated features over 4700 human-reviewed diffusion-generated images compressed to fit in under 57mb without a noticable loss of quality. My hope is that this project can not only help individuals, but also lower the bar for robust research into Cognitive Bias Modification (CBM) by offering a standardized and ready to go solution to study.
The app includes gameification elements such as showing a number of statistics and includes a concept of "rares" that can turn up on rare ocassion to try and overcome one of the shortcomings of CBM; that it's not engaging.
There are some downsides to the AI generated approach. Perhaps the faces are not representative of the real world cases where CBM showed some benefit. Perhaps there are other patterns that are easier to spot between the happy versus unhappy faces than the intended cues (ie, their happiness.)
Despite the potential shortcomings, Fabri-Elated is a unique experiment with multiple potential benefits.
